What has become of the ARA Best Study Award winner Patrick Toussaint?

Excellent academic achievements not only impress on the certificate. ARA AG grants the Best Study Award to those ETIA students with the best academic performance over the two years of study.

One of them is Patrick Toussaint, alumni of the MSC Environmental Technology & International Affairs and winner of the Ara Best Study Award 2013: "I very much appreciate that ARA offers the Best Study Award to ETIA graduates every year. It provides a great incentive to the students to finish the Master of Science with top grades."

Career steps since the Graduation

Patrick Toussaint graduated from the ETIA Master of Science in 2013 as winner of the ARA Best Study Award.

As a student he aspired to a career in the international environmental policy field. Having previously graduated from a Master of Laws in Environmental Law and Policy, he pursued the ETIA Master of Science degree to deepen his understanding of the science and technology underlying current environmental policy issues. During ETIA he had the opportunity to complete two internships with the United Nations, namely with UNEP in Nairobi and the UN Office of Legal Affairs in New York.

Since graduating from ETIA he has worked on private sector development in the field of renewable energy with GIZ in Kenya. Since 2015 he works as a research associate at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS), an interdisciplinary research institute based in Potsdam. His research focuses on core issues related to international climate change policy and climate law.
