Dr. Markus Amann

Markus Amann leads the “Atmospheric Pollution and Economic Development” programme at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Laxenburg, Austria. Under his leadership, the programme developed scientific tools for the integrated assessment of pollution control strategies and applied them within the negotiations of various protocols of the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution (LRTAP) and on the clean air legislation of the European Union.
He is member of the Clean Air Commission of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and of the “Working Group on Tropospheric Ozone in the 21st Century” of the Royal Society, London, UK. He serves as head of the Centre for Integrated Assessment Modelling of the European Monitoring and Assessment Programme (EMEP) of LRTAP Convention.
