em.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Günther Brauner was since 1990 the chair of power systems and is head of the institute of energy systems and energy economics. After the study of telecommunications he changed to high voltage research in the university and later to power system development and simulation in a scientific industrial department. His main fields of research are now in decentralized renewable and autonomous energy systems, energy efficiency and electrical mobility.
He is vice president of the Austrian National Committees of the World Energy Council and member of VDI, VDE and of some science advisory boards.
