Dr. Bernice Maxton-Lee

Dr. Bernice Maxton-Lee is a Research Associate at ETH University in Zurich, Switzerland. She completed her PhD in Political Science and Sustainable Development at the City University of Hong Kong in 2018 and is an MSc ETIA Alumna. Her book “Forest Conservation and Sustainability in Indonesia: A Political Economy Study of International Governance Failure” will be published in April 2020. Dr. Maxton-Lee is an expert on the political economy of global sustainable development and sustainability transition, and has had work published on Southeast Asian environmental politics, the political economy of environmentalism, eco-consumerism, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Her current research focuses on global climate politics, and on the trade-offs between sustainability, economic development, and social well-being. She has teaching and research expertise in Development Studies; Globalisation and Sustainability; Climate Change Politics; International Political Economy; Political Economy, Deforestation and Forest Conservation in Indonesia. Dr. Maxton-Lee is a member of the UN Green Commodities Programme expert consultant roster and of the Southeast Asian Research Centre (SEARC).
