“Be at your best at all times”: Rector‘s Reception at the TU Wien for new CEC students

In the evening of October 11, 2018, over 130 new participants of our postgraduate programs got to know their fellow students at the Rector‘s Reception, which took place at the Festive Hall of the TU Wien. The evening started with speeches by Prof. Bob Martens (Vice Director of the CEC), Prof. Dr. Kurt Matyas (Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, TU Wien), Prof. Hans Puxbaum (Academic Director, MSc Environmental Technology & International Affairs) and Prof. Christoph Scharff (CEO, ARA Altstoff Recycling Austria AG).

New students of the following programs were invited: MSc Environmental Technology & International Affairs, MSc Immobilienmanagement & Bewertung, MSc Renewable Energy Systems, Professional MBA Automotive Industry, Professional MBA Facility Management, General Management MBA and Professional MBA Entrepreneurship & Innovation.

In his speech, Prof. Scharff highlighted the urgent need to achieve a sustainable world and the responsibility that each student will carry with them in their future career path: “There is one key resource we urgently need to achieve a sustainable way of production and consumption, and this is the resource between your ears: knowledge and skills. To achieve a circular economy, we need you as well trained and knowledgeable managers and leaders, engineers and decision makers, researchers and regulators. And we want you to strive for excellence in whatever you do, don’t be complacent, be at your best at all times.”

The following get-together at the buffet deepened the contact between the student-body of the different programs and the representatives of the TU Wien and partner institutions.
