Field trip of MSc ETIA students to the wind park Bruck/Leitha and biogas plant

At the beginning of the second year, the first excursion of the MSc ETIA (Environmental Technology and International Affairs) took students to Bruck / Leitha on October 23, 2018 for a visit to a biogas plant and the wind farm.

The biogas plant has three main functions: heat supply for domestic use, fuel supply and electricity, heat and cold for industrial use. The owners are twelve farmers. Monitoring and quality control can be conveniently performed from mobile devices. Ralf Roggenbauer from the Energy Park took over the detailed tour. The tour of the biogas plant impressed with the careful planning, the simple construction and the clear, sustainable processes that take place here.

The second part of the excursion led to regional, climate-friendly power generation. The students were surprised to climb a spiral staircase with almost 280 steps in a 60 meter high windmill. After reaching the viewing platform of the wind turbine, it became apparent how wind energy is converted into rotary motion and thus electricity is generated.
